(ELEC)-Electrician Journeyman (Industrial Control)

General Responsibilities:

Perform skilled work at the Journeyman Electrician level in the maintenance, repair, installation, and improvement of all electrical and electronic equipment throughout the Board’s system. Perform duties of Electrical Superintendent during his absence.

Essential Job Functions:

• Performed skilled work at the Journeyman Electrician level in maintenance, repair, installation and improvement of all electrical equipment throughout the Board's system
• Install, maintain and repair various electrical systems and equipment including but not limited to: motor control centers, SCADA equipment, switches and outlets, lighting protection equipment, batteries/battery equipment, colling fan wiring and controls, heating/air conditioning wiring and control, electric door wiring and controls, radio communication control equipment and etc
• Design, build, install and maintain District Metering Area DMA site control panels, Solar DMA sites and YSI panels as per Alabama Department of Environmental Management ADEM
• Respond to trouble calls at remote locations/filter plants, in the event of an emergency
• Install electrical facilities and wiring for transmitters, generators, instrumentation, radios, antennae, coaxial cable and other communication equipment
• Install wiring, explosion-proof fittings and remote-control wiring in gas checkpoints, regulators, metering stations, etc
• Install and maintain wiring of to volt pump motors, remote controls, wiring relays, electrical eyes, etc
• Perform electric and electronic trouble-shooting; repair electronic equipment; trouble-shoot all types of instrumentation, and identity and solve problems
• Install wiring and conduit in all BWWB facilities for all manner of electrical operation; install and maintain radio telemetry hardware, perform diagnostic test
• Wire public address, alarm and buzzer systems, security systems, telephone systems; climb poles and towers, install radio equipment
• Maintain instruments so as to provide accurate information about control for remote station pressure, flow and pump control, filter plant pressure, flow turbidity and chemical control of remote locations and tank level report equipment
• Ability to create and read blueprints, sketches and wiring diagrams
• Install new switchgear at remote pump stations
• Install and maintain generator transfer switches at filter plants, pump stations and on main campus
• Program troubleshoot, install and replace complex motor management relays ie GE Multilin, FP, FP , MP, MP, equipment and Infrared equipment Soft Starts and VFDs Variable Frequency Drives
• Project management & working with vendors for direct replacement
• Supervises onsite inspection of electrical systems and various components installed by electrical contractors
• Perform, record, produce detailed documentation from motor circuit analysis equipment
• Read and draw blueprints, sketches and wiring diagrams
• On call /

Education:

Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Certifications

Experience:

Five (5) years of related experience in industrial electrical work required.  Must have ability to read blueprints, draw wiring diagrams; must have familiarity with specialized computer software. Must have ability to apply electrical codes and ability to differentiate wire colors; must be able to perform high skilled math calculations; must possess a working knowledge of electrical and electronic fieldwork and must have intermediate computer skills. Must have working knowledge in basic flow, basic pressure, pressure generators, voltage generators, MADC generators, decade boxes, computerized control systems, proprietary instrument configurations; R.T.D; Thermocouple, instrument calibration, filtering plants, S.C.A.D.A. operation, program logic controls and radios.

Working Environment:

Loud noise; work inside and outside under varying conditions, subject to hazards of high voltage electricity, heights, confined spaces, operating equipment and water treatment chemicals.
